BTS Chart Four Of The Top 10 Albums In Korea Simultaneously
As BTS hold at No. 1 on both the Gaon Digital and Gaon Download, the South Korean music charts that rank the most-consumed and bestselling songs in the nation, respectively, something incredible happens on the corresponding albums roster.
This week, BTS claim four of the top 10 bestselling albums in South Korea. While it’s not odd to see the band’s music performing well in their home country, it is not common for any act, even the biggest in the world, to occupy that much real estate so close to the summit of the competitive tally.
BTS’s latest release leads the charge again, as their Butter single album holds at No. 1. The short project—it features both the singles “Butter” and “Permission to Dance” and the instrumental versions of the two tunes—opened in first place last week with a massive sales sum, and this time around it wasn’t challenged.
The lowest three spaces inside the top 10 on the Gaon Albums chart this week are also occupied by BTS, who see a trio of popular efforts jump back into the highest tier on the tally. First up among that group is Love Yourself: Answer, which lifts 15 spaces to No. 8.
Just behind Love Yourself: Answer comes another from that incredibly successful series. Love Yourself: Tear only improves by eight spaces, but that’s enough for it to enter the top 10 once again and settle at No. 9.
Down in last place inside the top 10 on this week’s Gaon Albums chart is Map of the Soul: Persona, one of the group’s most popular titles. The set has already been certified for selling four million copies, making it one the highest-certified releases in South Korean history.
All four of BTS’s current top 10 releases have already spent time at No. 1 in South Korea. Amazingly, every album and EP by BTS present on the Gaon Albums chart this week gains significantly from where it ranked last time around. Most of the 16 titles present surge by 10 spaces or more, with some rocketing more than 30 rungs at once.
BTS are enjoying global success once again with their latest song “Permission to Dance,” which has become a massive win on charts almost everywhere. The tune debuted atop the Hot 100 in America a few days ago, and it remains the No. 1 bestselling and most-consumed track in South Korea this week. That catchy cut also bolts more than 70 spaces to appear inside the top 10 on the Gaon Streaming chart for the first time.
