A multi-story building partially collapsed in the Miami metropolitan area early on Thursday, Miami Dade Fire Rescue said, with no word yet on the cause of the collapse or number of casualties.
Miami Dade Fire Rescue tweeted that over 80 of its units are on the scene and are assisting municipal fire departments.
According to the Miami Herald, Miami Beach police have identified the building as Champlain Towers, in the town of Surfside.
According to the building’s website it is a condominium, however, it’s unclear how many residents live there.
CBS News is reporting that people were inside the building but there is no update on anyone being hurt or trapped inside.
