‘The Witcher’ Season 2 Gets Its Very First Trailer, But Geralt Is Missing

The Witcher’s second season is still months away, but we finally have a very brief trailer that practically defines the word “teaser.”

I actually prefer this type of trailer. It doesn’t give away very much, especially at first glance. Sure, there’s lots to unpack here and if you freeze frame each shot, clues abound, but it’s mostly just a quick look at what’s coming in Season 2 of Netflix’s hit fantasy series based on both the books by Andrzej Sapkowski and the video games by CD Projekt RED (which, let’s face it, clearly influenced the show—something made more obvious by the upcoming July 9th WitcherCon that Netflix and the game developer are putting on).

Here’s the teaser trailer for The Witcher Season 2:

We see Ciri—much transformed—in the forest, riding a horse, in training at Kaer Morhen, the fortress of the Witchers. “I need to understand,” she says. So do we!

“No! Geralt!” she cries, but we don’t see him anywhere, or at least not his face. There are puppets or dolls of some kind. The helm of some knight or man-at-arms. Someone says “Danger.”

Danger, Will Robinson.

There’s a glimpse of Elder Speech writing, an important looking dagger, some sort of lion embroidery (Ciri is the Lion Cub of Cintra, after all) and plenty more to whet our appetites as we eagerly await more—presumably a full trailer and a release date for Season 2 on July 9th.

Stay tuned, dear readers. The Witcher Season 2 promises to be even more epic—and less confusing—than the incredible first season. I can’t wait.
